The action of the 16th September is considered by some to have been a
reverse. I do not think this view is justified by the facts. The troops
accomplished every task they were set. They burned the village of Shahi-
Tangi most completely, in spite of all opposition, and they inflicted on
the tribesmen a loss of over 200 men.
